Alice Doherty Gershuny is a retired mental health professional with 25 years of experience working in the field of addictions, adult mental illness, child and family services and applied behavioral analysis. After leaving her career behind, Alice endured the deaths of multiple family members and a close friend over a six-year period, finding herself in the midst of a grief without direction. Following his death, Alice began blogging about her brother, reminiscing on their mutual love of bike riding. Weaving tales of her cycling adventures and recollections of those lives lost (with the occasional dose of humor), Alice found an outlet for processing her grief, utilizing her skills and experiences from the mental health world to create My Gump Ride. Whether the death of a loved human being or a beloved pet, her hope is to help those who are also suffering from loss to find a way to cope with their own grief. She has always been passionate about writing and has been blogging about her life’s journeys since 2016. Alice currently resides in Southern New Jersey with the hubby and their unhinged senior cat. She is an avid recreational cyclist, enjoys nature walks, learning about local history and exploring with the hubby.
